Kochi: A news report said that KPCC President, K Sudhakaran, has approached the High Court of Kerala seeking anticipatory bail in a cheating case involved with dubious antiques dealer Monson Mavunkal.
The Congress leader was issued a notice on Wednesday by the Crime Branch to appear for questioning on June 23 in the Monson Mavunkal fraud case.
K Sudhakaran in his petition to the HC said that the notice is a ploy to tarnish his image as a public servant. He also claimed that he has not attempted to influence or hamper any evidence in the investigation.
The complainants in the Monson Mavunkal fraud case said that the fake antiques dealer, Monson Mavunkal, told them that the central government has withheld Rs.2.62 crores he received from a royal family in Middle East, the report said.
Mavunkal took Rs.10 crores from the complainants to eliminate the blocks to withdraw his money from the bank. The complainants also accuse the Congress leader, Sudhakaran also assured them that he would clear the blocks to withdraw the money by using his political power.
The complainants say that they gave Rs.25 lakhs to Mavunkal on Sudhakaran’s assurance. They also allege that Sudhakaran took Rs.10 lakhs from it.
