Thiruvananthapuram: Reports said that CPI(M) State Secretary, MV Govindan, has leveled serious accusations against Congress leader and KPCC President, K Sudhakaran. In a press meet, the CPI(M) secretary said that when fake antiques dealer, Monson Mavunkal was abusing his maid’s underage daughter, the Congress leader was present there.
Govindan pointed out that the presence of K Sudhakaran was revealed by the victim herself in her statement. The Crime Branch had given notice to Sudhakaran to appear before it to question him about the victim’s accusation.
However, a report said that Crime Branch rejected Govindan’s allegation and said that the agency booked Sudhakaran only in a cheating case. The agency also said that the girl didn’t give any statement against Sudhakaran, the report said.
The communist leader said that the party is not interested to take case against any individual. He said that this information is based on what the Crime Branch said and from the news reports, which said that K Sudhakaran did not intervene when he was aware of the sexual abuse taking place.
Monson Mavunkal was awarded life imprisonment for sexually abusing a minor girl. The victim is daughter of Monson’s maid. The sentence was handed out by Ernakulam POCSO Special Court.
Earlier, the Crime Branch had given notice to K Sudhakaran to appear before it to be questioned in a cheating case. The Congress leader sought anticipatory bail from the High Court. The cheating case is also related to the fake antiques dealer, Monson Mavunkal.
