No one knows where K Vidya is. The former SFI leader went into hiding after the authorities of Government College in Attappadi complained that Vidya had forged her experience certificate to get a job as guest lecturer. She produced certificates showing that she had worked as guest lecturer at Maharaja’s College in Ernakulam.
However, when the forgery came to light, Vidya went into hiding. The police began a search for her, even took the assistance of cyber cell experts, but to no avail.
It seems that the Kerala police known for their diligence, commitment, and expertise in hunting down dreaded and seasoned criminals just cannot locate the elusive forger.
Today is the thirteenth day that she is ‘missing’. Though, she is missing and out of contact with everyone, she has promptly filed for anticipatory bail at the High Court. She told the HC that she must not be arrested and one of the reasons not to arrest her is that she was unmarried. Talk about the woes of arranged marriages. It is just too hard for a young girl to get a good guy these days.
However, there were many rumours that ‘Miss’ K Vidya was holed up in one of the boys’ hostel of Sanskrit University. The investigating team went there and collected details from hostel department.
The team also demanded the documents and registration of those staying at the hostel. They might have examined it closely and did not find K Vidya’s name in any documents and left it at that. But people are wondering if any criminal would be that foolish to hide in a hostel after putting his or her name on the registration book.
Now finally after exhausting all their arsenals, the Kerala police, said that they are going to wait it out until the HC declares its verdict on K Vidya’s plea for anticipatory bail on June 20th.
Deputy Superintendent of Police, N Muralidharan said that Vidya would be arrested only after the HC passes judgment on her anticipatory bail.
That means the police would not arrest K Vidya before June 20th, which is the date when HC will consider her anticipatory bail plea.
So what are the lessons that the case of K Vidya teaches common people in Kerala?
First of all, if you are with the SFI or any communist organization you suddenly become immune to the laws of the land. Even the hands of the law (the Kerala Police in this case) will not come after you.
The next lesson is that, if you are an ardent supporter of communism and has a visceral hatred for nationalism, then you can earn a secured job by hook or by crook in Kerala. It is ok for you to forge experience certificates, mark lists, etc.
And lastly, Kerala Police are generous (not to everyone though). They are generous enough to wait for HC decision on the anticipatory bail plea to arrest you.
