Thiruvananthapuram: Fever has gripped the state of Kerala. Dengue fever and rat fever are claiming lives of many people and thousands are seeking medical treatment in the state.
According to a report the latest victims of dengue fever are Dhaneesh (13) from Charur and Vijayan (56) from Thiruvananthapuram. With this, the death toll in the state related to infectious diseases this month alone reached to forty one.
The number of people seeking medical treatment in government hospitals has passed two lakhs this month, said the report. If the number of people seeking medical treatment at private institutions are also taken into account, the number would be higher.
The health department has already given advisories to the people. It has directed that children and the elderly must wear masks in public spaces. The number of fever cases is expected to rise in July.
