The distressing incident came to light after a child, identified as Avantika from Kuttikkattoor, experienced physical weakness and was subsequently admitted to the Medical College Hospital due to food poisoning.
Avantika’s mother, Vijitha, had ordered the food through Zomato, a popular online food delivery platform. The masala dosa, purchased from New Kairali Hotel near Kozhikode Medical College, turned out to contain the unexpected presence of a snail. The ingestion of this contaminated food led to Avantika’s hospitalization.
Medical professionals treating Avantika confirmed the occurrence of food poisoning, underscoring the serious health risks associated with such incidents. In response, Vijitha expressed her intention to file a formal complaint with the police on behalf of the Medical College, addressing the alarming incident and demanding appropriate action to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
