New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) made a list of Popular Front of India (PFI) terrorists who left India recently to fight in jihad. According to NIA, a total of thirty-five PFI leaders left India and among them twenty hails from Kerala. Two Malayalee women are also included in the list.
The most number of PFI operatives who went to fight for jihad from Kerala is from Kannur district. Fifteen persons, who are natives of Kannur is believed to have left the state to foreign countries.
NIA informs that most people on the list are now in Syria and Afghanistan.
Twelve persons who went to fight for jihad have already been killed by security forces. The killed PFI operatives are Shajeer Mangalaserri from Kozhikode, natives of Kannur Muhammad Shaji, Shameer TV, Salmanhul Faris, Abdul Manaf, Safan, Shahnad, Thaslim, Abdul Kayoom, Anwar, Sajad, and Nizamudhin.
It is interesting to note that prominent political parties in Kerala had criticized the movie The Kerala Story, which portrays people going to foreign countries to fight for jihad. NIA’s revelation about those who left India for jihad comes after political parties tried to downplay the serious nature of Islamic terrorism growing inside Kerala society.
