After CITU leaders disrupted bus operations by placing their union flags on bus, the bus owner, facing the threat of losing his livelihood, resorted to selling lottery tickets in front of his bus. The incident quickly went viral on various social media platforms, drawing attention to the matter. In response, the High Court issued an interim order mandating police protection for the operation of four buses owned by Rajmohan Kaimal. The District Police Chief and Kamarakam Station House Officer were instructed to ensure compliance with the order.
The case filed by the bus owner regarding the strike and halting of bus operations was adjourned for consideration until the following week. Raj Mahan, the owner, stated that bus services would resume from the morning following the court order.
On the other hand, PJ Varghese, the district president of CITU’s Motor Mechanical Union, claimed that they were not aware of the court order and asserted their right to strike.
Yesterday, after placing the flags on the bus, the CITU members initiated their protest by constructing a hut and preparing porridge in front of the bus.
The disruption occurred after discussions held at the Kottayam Labor Office, where an increase in employee salaries was proposed and subsequently implemented. However, the intervention of CITU leaders, who placed their union flags on the bus, led to the suspension of bus services.
Amidst the ongoing the issue, the bus owner felt compelled to sell lottery tickets in front of the bus, fearing potential violence and damage to the vehicle, reminiscent of a scene from the Malayalam movie ‘Varavelppu’.
