The Kerala state government has made an announcement regarding the observance of Bakrid. The Kerala state government has officially declared the 28th and 29th of June as holidays in connection with the Bakrid celebration.
Initially, the government had granted a single day holiday on the 28th. However, several Muslim organizations expressed their request for an additional holiday on the 29th.
Taking their sentiments into consideration, the cabinet convened and decided to extend the holidays.
Consequently, a recommendation was sent to the Chief Minister by the Public Administration Department, proposing a change in the holiday from the 28th to the 29th. But, respecting the viewpoint of the Muslim organizations, the Chief Minister has officially declared a two-day holiday, accommodating both the 28th and 29th.
