PK Sasi, a former MLA and senior leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPM], has been subjected to disciplinary action. Sasi, who has been embroiled in multiple controversies, including allegations of sexual harassment, has been demoted by the party.
As a consequence, the CPM has decided to remove Sasi from the Palakkad district secretariat and downgrade his position to the district committee. Another party member, VK Chandran, has also faced demotion from the Secretariat to the District Committee. It has been reported that four out of the 21 members in the area committee have provided evidence against Sasi.
Currently, Sasi holds the position of chairman in the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC). The party has acknowledged the complaint regarding the diversion of party funds against him and has planned to address it at a later.
The decision to take disciplinary action against Sasi was made during a meeting attended by CPM State Secretary M V Govindan. Additionally, four individuals have been removed from the Kollangode Area Committee due to sectarianism, while five others have been reinstated.
To investigate the allegations against Sasi, the CPM has assigned the task to Puthalath Dinesan, a member of the state secretariat.
