Ernakulam: The involvement of former SFI leader K Vidya in a fraudulent case has raised significant doubts about the role of the Nileshwaram police. Despite similarities between the statements given during the interrogations by the Agali police and the Nileshwaram police, the latter has shown a lack of interest in conducting thorough investigations or seeking custody in this case. The failure to uncover crucial evidence related to the fraud further reinforces allegations of bias in the police’s approach.
Vidya was employed as a temporary lecturer for one year at a government college in Karinthalam. It was during this period that the college authorities provided testimony against Nileshwaram to the police, establishing a connection. However, the seriousness of the crime warrants prompt action from the police, which unfortunately has been characterized by negligence and unprecedented slowness in advancing the case. The police did not make any effort to locate Vidya or conduct a search at her residence until mounting criticism compelled them to initiate a comprehensive investigation at both the college and her place of residence.
During the interrogation regarding the forgery case at Nileshwaram, Vidya reiterated her statement, but the police made no further attempts to pose additional questions or search for crucial evidence. It was after this incident that Vidya was granted bail.
