Thiruvananthapuram: The police have intensified the search to nab Sanju S Sasidharan, who is alleged to have made the fake degree certificates for former SFI leader, Nikhil Thomas, to gain admission to MCom program.
Sanju, a native of Thiruvananthapuram, is also an accused in a police case related to collecting money on the promise of arranging Visa. He was arrested by the police last September on the complaint by an Angamaly resident. However, he went into hiding after getting bail in that case.
There is also a complaint against Sanju at the Ernakulam North Police Station for duping several people. Reports say that cheating people on the promise of Visa is his main forte. The investigation team believes that crucial evidence can be obtained if Sanju is nabbed.
Meanwhile, the court will decide on the custody of Abin C Raj tomorrow. He is accused of helping Nikhil Thomas to procure the fake degree certificate of Kalinga University through Sanju. He is currently using a mobile phone, which he purchased one and half months ago. Abin told the police that he had destroyed the old mobile phone, but the investigation team is planning to search his residence to retrieve his old mobile phone and laptop.
Nikhil Thomas had earlier told police that he had paid Rs.2 lakhs to get a degree certificate from Kalinga University, so that he can submit it at the MSM College and join for the MCom program. It must be noted that Nikhil Thomas studied BCom at MSM College and failed in the exams.
Police informed that the former SFI leader, Nikhil Thomas, is not cooperating with the investigation.
