Thiruvananthapuram: Minister of State, V Muraleedharan, said that Uniform Civil Code (UCC) must not be seen as the political agenda of the BJP. The UCC is envisioned by the Indian Constitution. Even after 73 years, UCC still remains unimplemented. He also asked those who object to UCC to say when it can be implemented.

The minister was talking to the media in Thiruvananthapuram when he made his observations on the UCC.

V Muraleedharan also said that let the discussions on UCC continue in Kerala. He added that the UCC won’t hamper the rights of Muslim community. They must realize the reality, said the minister.

He also spoke about the revelation of former associate editor of communist party controlled newspaper Deshabhimani, G Sakthidharan. The former associate editor had revealed that the CPI(M) had arranged contract killers to take out Congress leader and present KPCC President, K Sudhakaran.

Muraleedharan said that the Kerala police is not taking any action after this revelation because of political pressure. Many people in high positions have many things to hide and that is why no action is taken by the police. If the Chief Minister has nothing to hide he must order an investigation into Sakthidharan’s revelations.
