Cochin: Today, it has been reported that another distressing act of violence has occurred against a doctor, adding to the growing number of incidents targeting medical professionals in Kerala. This incident, which took place on World Doctor’s Day in Kerala, has cast a somber tone over the day’s celebrations.
The victim, a house surgeon named Harish Muhammed at Ernakulam General Hospital, was subjected to a brutal attack after he intervened to protect a lady doctor from harassment.
The incident unfolded at around 1:30 am when Josmil and Roshan, both residents of Mattancherry, visited the hospital to see a patient. They used abuse language towards a lady doctor on duty.
Witnessing the disgraceful behavior, Harish Muhammed, the house surgeon, interfered and questioned for their actions.
The confrontation seemed to have angered Josmil and Roshan, who swiftly left the scene. However, they later regrouped near the resting area of the house surgeons and launched a physical assault on Harish. The hospital superintendent described the attack as a planned act of violence, raising concerns about the safety of healthcare workers.
The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras, and the footage has been handed over to the police for investigation. In the video, Josmil and Roshan can be seen fleeing the scene after carrying out the assault on the doctor.
Police arrested Josmil and Roshan, charging them with assaulting healthcare workers. The incident has once again highlighted the urgent need to address the issue of violence against doctors and ensure the safety and security of medical professionals who dedicate their lives to saving others.
