THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Education Minister V Sivankutty has emphasized the importance of proactive measures in response to rainy weather conditions. He suggested that school holidays should be announced a day in advance if rainfall is expected. The minister further wanted the district Collectors to implement a policy of declaring holidays preemptively based on rain forecasts provided by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
To ensure the safety of students, the minister highlighted the removal of hazardous trees from several schools as an early precautionary measure ahead of the rainy season.
In light of IMD’s forecast indicating heavy rainfall over the next five days, several districts have already taken necessary steps. Consequently, educational institutions in Ernakulam, Kasaragod, and Alappuzha districts have been instructed to observe a holiday tomorrow in order to prioritize the safety of students.
