Kasaragod: Tomorrow will be a holiday for educational institutions in Kasaragod and Kannur districts. The announcement comes after many regions of these districts received heavy rainfall. The holiday is declared for schools under State, CBSE, ICSE boards and also for Kendriya Vidyala, Anganwadis and madrasas.
However, the colleges in these districts will remain opened tomorrow, said the District Collector.
The weather forecast received today afternoon predicts heavy rainfall and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) have issued a red alert. The forecast also predicts heavy rainfall on Wednesday. In this situation, the school holiday was announced as a form of warning. Suggestions are given to authorities of educational institutions to rearrange classes to cover the lost academic days.
The IMD also issued a red alert for Idukki, Kannur and Kasaragod districts today owing to very heavy rainfall in these districts. The weather department predicts that in the coming twenty-four hours extra rainfall of 204.4 mm will be received. Also, orange alert is issued in many districts on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
