Kannur: A report said that CPI(M) State Secretary, MV Govindan, narrated his recent visit to the United Kingdom and observed that the natives of England are not going to churches and that these churches are up for sale. The youth in that country is not attending churches.
The communist leader said that the cost of a small church in England is Rs.6.5 crores.
The report quoted the State Secretary saying that Keralites living in England are attending churches there. Some have bought churches and changed it to worship centers of Sri Narayana Guru. The Sikhs are also buying churches to be converted in to their temples.
MV Govindan said that the service of nuns in England have become like a profession and added that the priests there are on strike demanding higher wages.
The CPI(M) State Secretary spoke about his observation during his UK visit while inaugurating the renovated hall of the Block Panchayat Office at Taliparamba in Kannur.
