THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Alarming irregularities have been discovered within the Kerala State Health Department, raising concerns about the accuracy of reported fever-related deaths. Despite a growing number of fatalities each day, the Health Department official website’s death count appears to be deliberately lower. Hospitals initially report higher numbers, but these figures are later altered by the health department.
Janam TV earlier highlighted the issue, shedding light on the health department’s elusive behavior regarding the disclosure of the state’s fever patient statistics. Furthermore, there is a lack of transparency surrounding the publication of death figures. The department fails to provide the exact count for each district on its official website. In a recent incident, the health department reduced the reported number of deaths from various hospitals across the state, despite six fatalities being initially recorded.
Earlier reports revealed that district medical officers received instructions from the health department, prohibiting them from providing accurate information about the contagious disease to the media. This deliberate withholding of information has fueled ambiguity and speculation.
The severity of the epidemic is further exacerbated by the government’s failure to conduct adequate cleaning operations. The government is facing allegations that they have not handled the situation well, and the increasing number of patients is making these criticisms stronger.
At the same time, the doctors and nurses association has urged for immediate attention to the shortage of healthcare workers.
