Aluva: The Franciscan Clarist Congregation (FCC) of the Roman Catholic Church has ordered one of its Nuns to leave the congregation voluntarily, failing to which she will be expelled. The order comes after the Nun, Sister Lucy Kalappurakkal, had protested against the rape accused Bishop of Jalandhar Franco Mulackal.
Though Sister Lucy had given an explanation at the FCC Convent Generalate, the congregation was not happy with the Sister’s explanation and has asked her to leave.
The crime that her congregation accuses her off is that Sister Lucy went to the protest venue in front of the High Court of Kerala in solidarity with five other nuns who were seeking justice for a nun who accused Bishop Franco Mulakkal for raping her several times.
The nuns were protesting against the inaction of Kerala Police in arresting the Bishop. He was arrested only after a widespread outrage against the Police and Kerala Government for their passiveness in dealing with a Christian priest accused of serious crimes.
Franco Mullakal was released on bail two weeks after.
