Malappuram: A fresh controversy has emerged in Kerala when a video surfaced which shows leaders of Congress ally Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) meeting the leaders of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), the political wing of Islamic extremist and militant organization Popular Front of India (PFI).
According to reports, the leaders met to finalize a deal ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
The CCTV visuals from a hotel in Malappuram shows top leadership of the two organizations arriving and leaving the hotel at around the same time.
Incidentally the IUML was represented by E. T. Mohammad Basheer and P. K. Kunhalikutty, both of whom are Members of Parliament and very close to top leadership of the Congress.
The PFI, which is the mother organization of SDPI, is accused of having links with the banned terror outfit Students Islamic Movement of India. It is also accused of many terror related crimes including running arms training camps, murder of RSS workers, hacking a college professor’s palm, etc.
After the emergence of the video, the Congress leaders in the State are facing a huge backlash from the public who are now questioning Rahul Gandhi’s commitment to secularism and peace.
