ERNAKULAM: The government of Kerala has made a decision to blacklist a company involved in a scam related to the Palarivattam flyover. The company, called RDS Projects, was responsible for constructing the flyover. This action was taken by the government after uncovering the scam. According to the blacklisting order, the company will not be allowed to apply for any new projects for the next five years. Additionally, their A- Class (grade) license has been cancelled. The Public Work Departments Superintending Engineer has taken the measures.
The Palarivattam flyover was renovated with the help of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), led by Metro Man E Sreedharan. The state’s Public Works Department (PWD) stated in the blacklisting order that there was a breach of contract in the project.
The Enforcement Directorate is currently investigating a case involving Ibrahim Kunju, a former PWD minister, who allegedly laundered Rs 10 crore during the demonetisation period.
It is suspected that the money was obtained through the Palarivattam bridge construction scam and funneled through the account of Chandrika newspaper.
