Malappuram: In a shocking incident that shook the consciousness of Kerala, the body of a deceased patient at Mancheri Medical College was transported in the trunk of a car because the family could not pay for Ambulance expenses.
The hospital superintend is accused of not giving a helping hand to the family.
The tragic incident was suffered by the family of Karnataka native Chandrakala who died at the Mancheri Medical College after fighting cancer. Her relatives arrived today to take her body to her native village. However, they did not have the money to pay for an Ambulance service.
They then met the hospital superintend Dr. Nandakumar and asked if he could arrange the money from the Hospital Management Committee but he refused to oblige. Lastly, the desperate relatives stuffed the dead body of Chandrakala in the trunk of a car and drove away to her native place.
There is widespread criticism against the authorities for being insensitive to the family.
