THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In response to a case filed against priest Eugene Pereira and fishermen involved in the Muthalappozhi boat accident, the Kerala Latin Catholic Congregation has organized a protest. The case was registered by the police after the priest and fishermen allegedly prevented ministers from accessing the accident site. The police claim that Eugene Pereira instigated believers and incited a potential riot during the minister’s presence, leading to charges filed under the provisions of incitement to riot.
In light of these developments, the Kerala Latin Catholic congregation has scheduled a protest march to be held today at 5 pm, starting from Muthalappozhi junction and ending at the Anchuteng Police Station. The association aims to express its concerns regarding the case and its implications.
But, after the intervention of the Latin congregation, Minister Anthony Raju stated that the ministers did not file a complaint against Eugene Perera. Minister Antony Raju further emphasized that it has now become evident that the issue was caused by certain members of the Congress party.
Meanwhile, priest Eugene Pereira has voiced criticism against the Kerala state government, highlighting the ongoing loss of lives among fishermen despite the government’s supposed support. He also pointed out that his intervention occurred only after the minister mistreated distressed women and children at the scene of the accident.
