THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala State Transport Minister Antony Raju has held the state Finance department responsible for the delayed payment of salaries to KSRTC employees. The minister revealed that despite a request for 110 crore rupees from the finance department for salary distribution, only 30 crore rupees were sanctioned.
Minister Anthony Raju clarified that the requested amount has not yet been received, but it will be distributed as soon as it is made available. He further informed that an additional sum of 40 crore rupees will be required to fulfill the second installment of salaries.
In response to the situation, KSRTC employee unions staged a protest by besieging the KSRTC head office in Thiruvananthapuram, expressing their discontent over the withheld salaries.
Amidst the ongoing protests by KSRTC employees, Minister Antony Raju makes this statement.
The Chief Minister intervened and assured the employees that salaries would be distributed on the 5th of every month. However, even in the middle of the month, the government has been unable to distribute even the first installment of salaries.
