THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government has made a decision to cover the liability of the late former MLA KV Vijayadas, amounting to Rs 5.45 lakh. This payment will be drawn from the finance department’s account. Earlier, a controversy arose regarding the use of funds from the Chief Minister’s relief fund to settle the debts of the deceased MLA and political leader.
Furthermore, from the finance department, the remaining amount of Rs 5.34 lakhs from Vijayadas’ house loan and Rs 11,000 from his vehicle loan has been transferred.
Vijayadas, who served as the MLA of Palakkad Kongad constituency, passed away in January 2021.
This recent move by the government comes amidst an ongoing case concerning the use of funds from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to clear the liabilities of MLA Ramachandran Nair and NCP leader Uzhavoor Vijayan, which is still pending.
However, some critics argue that the government should address allegations of unnecessary spending on its party members instead of essential expenses like salaries.
