THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: C Udayakumar, a KSRTC Deputy General Manager (Commercial), was arrested by the Vigilance for accepting a bribe to approve advertisements on KSRTC buses. The arrest took place at KSRTC Transport Bhavan in East Fort, Thiruvananthapuram.
Earlier, the contractor had given Rs 40,000. The accused had demanded to give the remaining amount to a prominent club at Vazhuthacaud in Thiruvananthapuram.
Following a complaint made by the contractor, the accused was caught red-handed at the club, leading to his arrest by the vigilance authorities. As a result of the incident, he has been suspended pending an inquiry. Furthermore, there have been allegations against him of accepting bribes on multiple occasions.
The arrest was recorded by Vigilance Southern region while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 from a contractor who took a contract for providing advertisement on KSRTC buses. According to the Vigilance officials, the accused officer had demanded Rs 1 lakh from him.
He has been suspended pending an inquiry, given the allegations of accepting bribes on multiple occasions.
