Thiruvananthapuram: Reports said that the mortal remains of former Chief Minister of Kerala, Oommen Chandy will be brought today to the state capital from Chinmaya Mission Hospital in Bengaluru. The funeral is scheduled to be held on Thursday at St.George Orthodox Church in his constituency, Puthuppally at 2 pm.
The mortal remains of the former Chief Minister will be brought to Thiruvananthapuram on an air ambulance, said the report. The veteran Congress leader breathed his last in the wee hours on Tuesday morning in Bengaluru.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage to Oommen Chandy and said that we have lost a humble and dedicated leader who devoted his life to public service and worked towards the progress of Kerala. Narendra Modi also recalled his interactions with Oommen Chandy while they were both serving as Chief Minister’s of their respective states.
Congress President, Mallikarjun Kharge also paid tributes to Oommen Chandy. He tweeted, “My humble tribute to the stalwart Oommen Chandy, Former Kerala Chief Minister and a staunch Congress man who stood tall as a leader of the masses. His unwavering commitment and visionary leadership left an indelible mark on Kerala’s progress and the nation’s political landscape. He will be remembered for his dedication and service to the people. Heartfelt condolences to the family and supporters.”
