Thiruvananthapuram: The bye-election to the Puthuppally constituency that has become vacant after the death of Congress leader Oommen Chandy will be held in six months. The notice to this effect will be issued today at the Legislative Assembly. A copy of the same will be handed over to the Election Commissioner.
With this the Election Commissioner will begin the procedures to conduct the bye election at Puthuppally in six months.
It is possible that the bye-election to the Puthuppally constituency will be held alongside the bye-elections in other states. This will be the second bye-election since Pinarayi Vijayan’s second term in office. The last bye-election in the state was held at Thrikkakara constituency in 2022 after the demise of Congress leader and MLA PT Thomas. The seat was won by Uma Thomas, wife of PT Thomas.
