Chennai: A Thrissur native, Ashif, who collected funds for the Islamic State, has been arrested by the NIA.
He was caught by the NIA team at the Sathyamangalam forest in Tamil Nadu. He gave a statement that he had committed massive robberies to find money for terrorism. Ashif, who was arrested as the main link in the group that collects funds for IS terrorism, has also collected money through Telegram groups under Ashif’s leadership. The NIA stated that a detailed investigation into the case is in progress and that more information will be released soon.
Islamic State terrorists in Kerala were under surveillance. In the meantime, funds are being collected for ISIS, and massive robberies are being planned.

With the NIA under surveillance, Ashif shifted his hideout to the forests of Sathyamangalam. The NIA team from Kochi nabbed Ashif from Sathyamangalam Forest in Tamil Nadu. The accused was produced before the NIA court in Kochi and remanded. The NIA is preparing to take him into custody and interrogate him in detail.
