Kasaragod: On the 29th of July, Daya Bai is planning to initiate a hunger strike at Kasaragod Medical College to protest against the state government’s negligence. The protest aims to challenge the government’s claim that Endosulfan patients are not truly affected by the pesticide. The government had promised to organize a medical camp within two months, but it has been nine months, and the camp has not been conducted yet.
Daya Bai expressed her disappointment, stating that the government’s promises, which led her to end a previous hunger strike in front of the secretariat in October last year, remain unfulfilled to this day. The one-day hunger strike is being organized under the leadership of the Movement for Better Kerala.
Daya Bai expressed her disappointment over the unfulfilled promise of upgrading the Tata Trust Covid Hospital to a super specialty hospital, which now remains only a promise due to the decision to demolish it. She had previously pointed out that the obstruction of AIIMS coming to the district was due to selfish interests. Daya Bai is now initiating this one-day hunger strike in response to the non-implementation of several other government promises, except for the ‘Mother and Child Hospital’ at Kanhangad.
