Kochi: According to reports, the terrorist organization known as the Islamic State has been involved in planning large-scale explosions in Kerala. Furthermore, they have conducted test deployments of bombs in the state, strategically choosing crowded areas to maximize the potential harm to innocent civilians. Information obtained from questioning the suspects indicates that the terrorists were also contemplating the use of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in their planned attacks.
Investigations revealed that the gang had acquired the necessary equipment for crafting explosives through online channels. Their intention was to exert the influence of the Islamic State and spread fear by orchestrating remote-controlled explosions using electronic technologies, thereby inflicting casualties. Interestingly, during their test bomb deployments, they opted to substitute conventional explosives with Plaster of Paris to minimize the noise generated and avoid drawing attention to their activities.
Ashif, a Malayali terrorist who has been arrested, previously disclosed to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) that their group had orchestrated plans for large-scale explosions in Kerala. In addition to this, reports suggest that the Islamic State had also targeted places of worship and prominent individuals. Fortunately, the timely intervention of the NIA foiled the movements of this gang, which is part of a global terrorism module. Currently, Ashif and his associates, who were remanded for seven days starting Thursday, are undergoing questioning. The ongoing investigation aims to uncover any connections between these Malayali terrorists and Islamic State centers in Afghanistan.
