An incident that happened in Malappuram is going viral on social media. It is the footage of young men climbing a viral coconut tree that was leaning onto the water body, to jump into the river in Kettungal Chira but falling into it after the coconut tree broke that is now gaining traction.
The coconut tree broke minutes before the four men who had climbed the tree performed their stunts. As soon as the tree broke and plunged into the river, the youth perched on the tree swayed and rose to a higher height and fell into the water. As the coconut tree plunged first into the water and then the young men, they escaped unharmed.

The incident happened in Kettungal Chira on the border of Kalikav and Chokkad panchayats. It is a busy tourist destination, with beautiful waterfall. The youth involved in the accident were natives of Kurulai and had come to bathe in the river in Kettungal Chira at Kalikkavu on Sunday evening.
The video of the incident, captured by viewers on their phones, is gaining popularity on social media. The young men who had a narrow escape, were taken to a private hospital in Kalikav and given first aid.
