Kasaragod: The police sprung into action after widespread criticisms rose against the death slogan raised by Muslim League activists against Hindus. Activists of Youth League, the youth wing of Muslim League raised disturbing slogans during a march protesting against Manipur issue.
The League activists’ slogan was, “Before completing the reading of Ramayana you will be hanged in the temple premises and burned”. Through this slogan the Youth League members made a direct threat against Hindu believers in the name of Manipur issue.
It must be noted that Hindus in Kerala are currently celebrating ‘Ramayana Masam’, a month long reading of the Holy Ramayana in Hindu households during the month of Karkidakam.
The sloganeering came under severe criticism after the video of the crime went viral on social media. The police were forced to take action against the activists after criticisms were raised from all quarters.
The Hosdurg Police has taken a case against the Youth League activists for trying create hatred between two communities through the sloganeering. The police registered case against three hundred persons including women.
The Youth League activists raised slogans against Hindus in the guise of protesting against Manipur issue. Huge criticisms were raised against the administration for in its lapse to take action even after hours of raising the death slogan.
This finally prompted the police to take action. Meanwhile, the Muslim League State General Secretary, PK Firoz, said that its activist Abdul Salam of Kanhangad municipality has been ousted from the party for the sloganeering issue.
