THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A complaint has been lodged against Chethana Palliative and Charitable Society, with allegations of significant financial misconducts. The society’s secretary is CPI(M) leader and Ambalapuzha MLA H. Salam. The complaint was brought forward by Sreekumar, the former CPI(M) local committee secretary of Ambalapuzha.
The CPI(M) party has taken this matter seriously and has initiated an inquiry into the allegations. The society was established on December 30th, 2015. However, despite being in existence for over 8 years, there have been no records presented for the income and expenditure figures.
One of the major concerns raised in the complaint is the absence of any annual general meeting since the society’s formation. Additionally, it has been brought to light that around 500 types of diagnostic tests are being conducted at Chethana, with permission from the medical college. This has led to significant financial transactions worth crores being carried out under Chethana’s name.
Furthermore, the complaint accuses the society’s treasurer, Gurulal, of alleging that H. Salam took Rs 22 lakh. These allegations have prompted the party to initiate a thorough investigation into the matter.
As the situation unfolds, the public and party members are eager to learn the outcome of the inquiry and any potential consequences that may arise from the alleged financial irregularities at Chethana Palliative and Charitable Society.
