THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police intensified the investigation in the case of selling video footage of a 10th class girl being sexually harassed. The nasty incident happened at Kulathupuzha, Kollam.

The Kulathupuzha police have arrested a couple, Vishnu (31) and Sweety (20). They were charged under the POCSO Act.

According to the police report, under the guise of tuition classes, Sweety invited the 15-year-old girl to their home, where the minor was raped by Vishnu. The assault video was captured by Sweety on her mobile phone.

They started a special Instagram account to sell these videos. They charged between Rs 50 to Rs 500 per photo and up to Rs 1,500 for videos.

The girl, after noticing the footage circulating on social media, confided in a friend. The friend immediately informed the teacher, and a complaint was lodged with Childline. Kulathupuzha police acted swiftly, recording the child’s statement and registering a case. The accused couple were subsequently arrested.

The investigation has been extended to those who paid for the videos through Instagram.

The first accused gave a statement to the police saying that he got up to ten thousand rupees through this.

The bank account will be checked to know the reality of these matters. With the help of cyber police, the investigation team is trying to find out how many people have been sent the videos and pictures.

The police are identifying those who bought videos from the accused and will apprehend them as well. The couple has been remanded for 14 days after being produced in court.
