Malappuram: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) seizes arms training center of banned terror organization PFI in Kerala. The NIA said that they seized the center in Manjeri which is one of the oldest and largest arms training centers in Kerala. It was the center known as Green Valley Academy, a training center spread over ten hectares of land in Manjeri, that was confiscated by the NIA. The NIA found that the building was initially used by cadres of the National Development Front, which merged with the PFI.
The NIA investigation revealed that the building was used by the PFI for training sessions on weapons training, physical training and use of explosives. The center served as a ‘service wing’ and hideout for many terrorists after committing crimes including murder. This building also functioned under the guise of educational centers. Under the provisions of the UA(P) Act, the NIA successfully seized this center, marking it as the sixth PFI weapons training facility in Kerala and the 18th property of the organization taken into custody. UA(P) Act is Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.
The NIA had earlier taken action against five other PFI training centers in Kerala namely Malabar House, Periyarvalley, Valluvanad House, Karunya Charitable Trust and Trivandrum Education and Service Trust. 12 offices used by terrorists to organize arms and physical training, propagate ideologies and plan various criminal and terrorist activities were also seized. Organization leaders were running such training centers under the guise of charitable and educational trusts.
