THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The accused Ashfaq Alam, who sexually assaulted and killed a five-year-old girl in Aluva, has been confirmed by the police to be involved in similar criminal cases. The police have found that the accused is a habitual criminal.
They also informed that the accused is already in jail for trying to molest a 10-year-old girl. He was arrested by Ghazipur police, Uttar Pradesh, in 2018 in connection with this incident. After spending a month in prison in Delhi, he was released on bail and subsequently absconded.
Meanwhile, the police have informed that the Test Identification Parade (TIP) of the accused has been completed.
The main witness, Tajuddin, has also responded to the media, confirming that he had identified the accused. All three witnesses were present for the identification parade.
The witnesses, namely Aluva market worker, KSRTC bus conductor Santosh, and bus passenger Sushmita, reached the Aluva Sub Jail and identified the accused. These witnesses were on the same bus in which the accused was traveling with the child.
