Kochi: Nair Service Society (NSS) will implement whatever the NSS General Secretary says regarding Speaker AN Shamseer’s derogatory remarks about Lord Ganesha, said MLA KB Ganesh Kumar. He said that there is no doubt or dispute regarding this. MLA Ganesh Kumar who is also a board member of the NSS, was talking to the media about the speaker’s anti-Hindu remarks.
“What NSS General Secretary says will be implemented. There is no dispute within it, the Taluk Unions and NSS Karyogams must obey what the NSS General Secretary says. That’s how it should be and there is no dispute in it. NSS Inspectors, Secretaries and Karayogam Presidents are committed to obey whatever the General Secretary says and they will obey. There is no doubt or difficulty in any of that,” said KB Ganesh Kumar.
On 31st August, NSS General Secretary G Sukumaran Nair had said that Shamseer’s criticism about Lord Ganesha and Hindu beliefs calling them as ‘myth’ and unscientific, had gone overboard and is unjustifiable. He said that Shamseer is not entitled to continue as Speaker of the Legislative Assembly and should withdraw the remark and apologize to the believers. Sukumaran Nair had demanded the government to intervene in this issue but the government maintained silence and no action was initiated. This led to protests by NSS and various other Hindu organizations. Ganesh Kumar responded that whatever the NSS General Secretary says will be implemented on this issue.
The NSS decided to intensify its protest against Shamseer after the Speaker refused to apologize. G Sukumaran Nair, General Secretary of the NSS, has instructed the working groups to observe 2nd August as ‘Faith Protection Day’. In a circular issued by G Sukumaran Nair, all believers have been asked to visit the nearby Lord Ganesha temple on Wednesday, light a lamp and pray. The circular also says that the message should be delivered to all NSS Karayogam houses.
