Thiruvananthapuram: The CPI(M)’s double standards in the Speaker’s anti-Hindu remark was on full show at the State Secretary, MV Govindan’s press meeting. While the CPI(M) holds the view that Lord Ganapathi is a myth, the communist party do not consider Allah as a myth.
In the press meeting a media person asked whether CPI(M) thinks that Allah is a myth. To this question MV Govindan said that all beliefs are not myths. Some belief’s are myths but not all beliefs.
The CPI(M) State Secretary spoke to the press after a huge backlash from the Hindu community was raised against Speaker AN Shamseer for saying that Lord Ganesha and Hindu scriptures were myths and it hinders the progress of science.
MV Govindan said, “Myths must be seen as myths. If anyone says that myths are science, then CPI(M) will not accept it. Ganapathi is a myth only. It is not scientific. I have no doubt in saying that. In the same way Parushurama is also a myth.”
During the press meeting, a journalist reminded that the BJP leader, K Surendran, challenged Speaker AN Shamseer if he can say that Allah is a myth. The journo asked what is CPI(M)’s stand on that question by the BJP leader.
To this question, MV Govindan replied that all beliefs are not myths. He said, “It is part of their belief system. It cannot be said that it is a myth. They see it as part of their beliefs and we must also see it that way. We have no issue in it.”
Speaker AN Shamseer in a speech said that Lord Ganesha and Hindu scriptures were all myths and it hinders the progress of science. He said that Lord Ganesh and Hindu Puranas spread superstitions and absurdity. However, he did not mention about any other religion’s myths or beliefs but only targeted Hindu beliefs and holy books.
His insulting statements have raised widespread condemnation from Hindu community. Hindu social organizations like NSS and Dheevara Sabha have come out strongly against the statements.
BJP State President, K Surendran, has called for an apology from the Speaker to the Hindu community and also demanded his resignation.
However, the AN Shamseer is standing by his words and saying that he made those remarks to infuse scientific temperament. The communist party has fully backed whatever AN Shamseer said against Lord Ganapathi and the Hindu beliefs.
It must be noted that Shamseer did not make any reference to any Gods, beliefs, or myths of other religions and targeted only Hindus. After his controversial speech, many videos began circulating online showing him praising Islam and also saying that women are treated highly in the religion.
