Thiruvananthapuram: BJP leader Sobha Surendran strongly criticizes the state government’s attitude towards Hindu believers. Despite the anti-Hindu remarks made by Speaker AN Shamseer, the Chief Minister has remained silent on the matter. Adding to the concern, MV Govindan and a few others have expressed their support for Shamseer’s statements. This has further fueled the frustration over the apparent double standards of the CPI(M) in dealing with this sensitive religious issue.
Sobha Surendran alleges that MV Govindan is contemplating the idea of creating a division between Hindu and Muslim communities. She points out that during the Sabarimala protest, there was no opposition from Muslim believers against Lord Ayyappan’s practices, indicating a tradition in Kerala where each religion respects and follows their own beliefs. Sobha Surendran accuses Govindan of attempting to incite communal tensions and polarization. She says that such actions could lead to the emergence of Islamic terrorists.
Sobha Surendran said, “Shamseer insulted Lord Ganesha. It has raised concerns about his intentions and motives. He might be contemplating ways to exploit the situation and bring in Islamic terrorists. If MV Govindan has the potential, he should withdraw his comrades from the Temple Committee.”
“Shamseer’s actions were not unintentional, which is why he has not offered an apology. Shamseer is the mastermind behind the initiative to allow women’s entry into Sabarimala,” says Sobha Surendran.
