THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: VD Satheesan, the Leader of Opposition in the Kerala Assembly, expressed his approval of MV Govindan, the CPI(M) Kerala State Secretary, reversing his anti-Hindu statement. Satheesan firmly stated that it is never acceptable to mix religious faith and science.
However, Satheesan added that it is the responsibility of the government to protect the faith of believers. He said that it is never acceptable to have such a controversial statement from the Assembly Speaker. He called on the Kerala Legislative Assembly Speaker, AN Shamseer also to withdraw his alleged anti-Hindu remarks, following Govindan’s reversal.
Satheesan told this to the media after Govindan’s retraction of the statement.
Govindan had earlier reversed his stance amid escalating protests by Hindu believers, citing media misinterpretation as the reason and stating that he never referred to Hindu God, Lord Ganesh as a myth.
