THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Union Minister V. Muraleedharan has launched a scathing critique of Kerala Chief Minister’s lack of response to the anti-Hindu comment made by Kerala Assembly Speaker Shamseer. Muraleedharan claimed that both the Speaker and the Chief Minister’s son-in-law are seemingly engaged in a competition to promote Islamic extremists within the state. He emphasized that the Chief Minister must clarify whether the statements made by the CPI (M) secretary or his own son-in-law hold true.
Muraleedharan underscored that there appears to be a race to garner support from Islamic extremists. He said the ongoing controversy stemmed from Shamseer’s speech, and that the controversy will only be resolved if Shamseer expresses an apology.
The Union Minister further criticized the CPI (M) for their lack of a consistent stance. He pointed out the party’s tendency to adopt divergent positions in Kerala and Delhi, highlighting the party’s lack of steadfastness.
Directing his attention to Pinarayi Vijayan, Muraleedharan stressed the necessity for clarity in Shamseer’s statements in order to quell the controversy. He questioned the Chief Minister’s silence on such a contentious matter and urged him to respond.
Muraleedharan also noted the noteworthy absence of regret from the Congress regarding the Speaker’s controversial statement, despite demands for an apology from various community organizations in Kerala. He called upon the Congress party to state their stance on the anti-Hindu remarks.
Drawing a distinction between the lamp (nila vilakku) lit in a temple and a lamp lit at home, Muraleedharan elaborated on the cultural significance of lighting lamps in public ceremonies. He expressed that the traditional nila vilakku is a cultural heritage shared by several nations, transcending religion. He also said at the press meet that heritage is universal and immutable.
