THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kathakali performer, RLV Raghunath Mahipal (25), passes away while onstage during performance.
Tragedy struck the world of Kathakali as young artist RLV Raghunath Mahipal, aged 25, breathed his last while performing on stage. The unfortunate incident took place last night at the Maruthorvattom Sree Dhanwanthari Temple in Cherthala.
Raghunath Mahipal, portraying the character of Vasudevar in the dance-drama ‘Gurudakshina’, suddenly lost consciousness and collapsed during his performance.
The incident unfolded when Raghunath, in the midst of his passionate portrayal, started experiencing discomfort. He went unconscious and fell to the stage. Swift action was taken as he was swiftly rushed to a nearby hospital in a bid to save his life. However, despite the efforts of medical professionals, Raghunath’s life could not be saved, casting a pall of sorrow over the artistic community and his admirers.
RLV Raghunath Mahipal’s untimely demise has left a void in the world of Kathakali.
