New Delhi: The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, has asked the government of Kerala to submit an explanation in the anti-Hindu remarks made by the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, AN Shamseer.
The office of the President has ordered the Chief Secretary, Dr. Venu, to submit a report after investigating the matter. The President’s intervention comes after an advocate of the Supreme Court, Koshy Jacob, submitted a complaint to the President regarding the issue.
Advocate Koshy Jacob in his complaint says that Speaker, AN Shamseer’s anti-Hindu remarks was aimed at hurting the religious sentiments of the devotees and to create religious conflict. The advocate also pointed out that when the Speaker, who holds a high constitutional position, himself insults a religious belief and creates communal rift, the crime is very serious.
The complainant has also sought the removal of AN Shamseer from the post of Speaker.
