Kozhikode: Harshina has decided to begin a strong protest against the Kozhikode Medical College’s brazen negligence in which a surgical scissors was left in her stomach after surgery. She said that she will begin a protest in front of the Secretariat from August 16 onwards.
The Medical Board had rejected the police investigation report, which points the finger at the negligence of the doctors at Kozhikode Medical College, who performed the surgery. The police said that there is sabotage in the Medical Board’s decision and said that they will appeal against it.
Harshina will approach the City Police Commissioner, today, seeking investigation into the conspiracy behind the Medical Board’s decision.
Harshina said that the Health Minister must ensure justice in the case rather than giving promises of justice. The police investigation had found out that the scissor was left in Harshina’s stomach during the operation conducted at Kozhikode Medical College. However, the Medical Board rejected the police findings saying that such a conclusion cannot be drawn merely based on the report of a MRI Scan.
There is a strong allegation that in a bid to sabotage the police report, a senior doctor who was chosen to be part of the Medical Board was replaced with a junior consultant.
Harshina during her meeting with the Kozhikode City Police Commissioner will also seek an investigation into the move to replace the Radiologist, who was first designated to be part of the Medical Board. She will also appeal to the State Medical Board.
She said that she had lost faith in the Health Minister and accused the Medical Board of trying to protect the doctors who performed the surgery.
Harshina had staged a sit-in protest in front of the office of the District Medical Officer, against the decision of the Medical Board. However, the police used force to remove Harshina and arrested her.
The Health Minister yesterday informed the Assembly that Harshina will get justice. However, following the Minister’s announcement in the Assembly, the Medical Board rejected the police report.
Harshina has spent the last 82 days protesting in front of the Kozhikode Medical College seeking justice but to no avail.
