Thiruvananthapuram: The Travancore Devaswom Board has raised the fees for filming movies, serials, and documentaries within temples. The rates have been increased by ten percent. The revised fees are as follows: Rs 25,000 for a ten-hour movie shoot, Rs 17,500 for serials, and Rs 7,500 for documentaries. Additionally, the updated charges for using a still camera are Rs 350, while the fee for a video camera is set at Rs 750.
Devotees will be allowed to capture images using their mobile phones, subject to specific terms and conditions. Cameras will be permissible for certain ceremonies such as marriages, Annaprashan, and Tulabharam. Special conditions will apply for shooting at Sabarimala and other significant temples of archaeological value. In order to avoid disruption to devotees and temple rituals, the shooting duration has been limited to ten hours.
Strict measures have been announced pertaining to filming activities within the Devaswom Board’s temples. Henceforth, the board will be required to assess and approve the content and storyline of scripts to ensure that temple etiquette is followed. Furthermore, the Devaswom Board has made it clear that an evaluation will be conducted to determine the appropriateness of filming, including sequences involving song and dance, within the temple premises.
