New Delhi: The long standing belief that China had infiltrated the CPI(M) has gained more strength after the revelation of Chinese money flow to nephew of CPI(M) leaders, Prakash and Brindha Karat, and Marxist historian living in the United States, Vijay Prashad.
It is found that Vijay Prashad had received money from controversial billionaire and close friend of China, Neville Roy Singham. The money passed hands through an organization called Tricontinental, situated in Massachusetts. Tricontinental is a left-wing academic organization working in research on Marxism and serving the left intellectuals across the world with academic work to stimulate political and social movements towards revolution.
Vijay Prashad is a Marxist historian and the Executive Director of Tricontinental. The idea was to push the Chinese agenda in India through the Tricontinental.
Vijay Prashad himself had admitted to have taken money from Neville Roy Singham to begin the Tricontinental. Nevil is also on the advisory committee of the organization. Vijay Prashan during his days at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) was part of the breaking India group.
It is also believed that left journo, P Sainath has links with Neville Roy Singham. Sainath, who is also the owner of the website People Archives of Rural India, is also working as a senior fellow at the Tricontinental. He has also mentioned the name of Neville Roy Singham at many occasions.
The investigation of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) into the communication between Prakash Karat and Neville Roy Singham is progressing. The email id of Prakash Karat is also under scanner.
Legal proceedings are continuing against online news portal ‘NewsClick’ for taking Chinese money to spread anti-India propaganda. The ED also attached the apartment of the Editor-in-Chief of NewsClick, Prabir Purkayastha, at Saket in Delhi, in a case of money laundering.
