Communist Government’s (mis)adventures against Sabarimala is going to boomerang

The atrocities unleashed by police force commanded by senior officers with alleged criminal background under orders from the Communist (Marxist)-led LDF government in Kerala against the Sabarimala Swami Ayyappa pilgrims are almost reminisce of the brutalities of the atheist Stalinist regime about a century ago in Russia.

After a brief interval, hundreds of leaders of Sabarimala Karma Samithi are allegedly being entrapped in false criminal cases and lodged in jails at a time when the general election process are under way.

The way the devotees were being tortured during the Mandala period this year right from the base camp at Nilakkal to Sabarimala by the police force, gives the impression that the government of atheists/non- believers is implementing its conspiracy to destroy the temple. Despite being a party of atheists a substantial number of party workers is understood to have become Ayyappa devotees violating the Party’s diktat.

For the party which has been trying to destroy Sabarimala temple for over six decades, the September 28th Judgement of the Supreme Court can be considered as a blessing in disguise. The Apex Court is believed to have issued its decision, which is claimed to be of declaratory nature, on a writ petition that women devotees in the age group between 10 and 50 years could enter the Sabarimala shrine.

Being the only Communist government in the country, the Kerala Communist leaders probably wanting to leave their name in the annals of the party’s history as the adventurers who could manage the destruction of a most popular Hindu temple, which attracts over five crore pilgrims a year have swung into action from September 28th itself. The judgement is believed to be of declaratory nature and hence there is no time schedule attached to it for implementation.

And yet it has acted in haste. Therefore, if someone reaches the inference that the government has some surreptitious motives behind its onslaught on Sabarimala and the pilgrims, he/she cannot be blamed. They are understood to have plans to convert this famous temple inside the Periyar Tiger Reserve as a touristic spot almost the similar way Stalin has done in Russia as Communism is proudly atheistic and seeks to liberate mankind from superstition and “spiritual bondage”. According to Webster’s New World Dictionary Communism emerged around the turn of the 20th century in present day Russia as a “a hypothetical stage of socialism, as formulated by Marx, Engels, Lenin and others, to be characterized by a Utopian classless and stateless society and the equal distribution of economic goods and to be achieved by revolutionary and dictatorial, rather than gradualistic, means” .

Main Communist Beliefs are: Believe there is no God and no knowable providential order, that this physical world is the only reality, physical beings are the only real beings, and reason is man’s highest faculty. Believe religion is “the opiate of the people”, an exploiters’ tool of oppression that should be eliminated and its resources redirected to improving world conditions to lift mankind from misery.

Believe mysticism and religion are primitive and fraught with error, prejudice and superstition, and that modern science, based on materialism and empirical evidence, is the only respectable avenue to useful knowledge. Believe that the views expressed by our great Marxist revolutionaries represent the one and only correct world outlook, and that is imperative to overthrow the capitalist regimes, through violent revolution if necessary, to usher in a new order. Believe that the world’s wealth should be shared equally, and that unequal distribution caused by class distinction, is the root of all social evils, driving men to greed, selfishness and exploitation. Believe there is no knowable providential order, that death is permanent, that God does not exist and that the highest life is one of intense consciousness. Therefore, Communism could be branded as a religion promoting autocracy by eliminating opponents.

When it is not an all inclusive ideology like Hindutva, cannot accept anything other than the theories of Marx and resorting to eliminate those who do not believe in the Communist ideology, how can it talk about democracy and secularism. Almost similar is the approach of followers of Semitic religions such as Islam. “Muslims as a community do not, and indeed cannot, accept secularism as a legitimate doctrine for the public domain. For them the public domain is not separate from the all-encompassing religious realm. This problem haunts the entire UMMAH and not only its Indian constituent: it is first and above all a community of believers”, says late Giri Lal Jain, the Illustrious editor of the Times of India in his book, “The Hindu Phenomenon”, published posthumously. Such a society cannot also accept pluralism and hence their democracy is confined to their own community without allowing others to participate. Communist countries do not adhere to democracy at all.

Look at what had happened during Stalin’s tormenting rule of Russia. “The fiercely atheist communists tore down one of the biggest churches in Moscow, the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, replacing it with a massive outdoor swimming pool. They left St. Isaac’s standing. It took, reportedly 40 years for imperial Russia to construct the neoclassical basilica. The price tag, historians say “was greater than the amount the US government paid to purchase the Russian territory of Alaska in 1867”. The Communists “looted the building’s treasures and executed several of its top priests. For years, they turned the cathedral … a former place of worship for the czars … into a museum against religion”, says a CNN report.

A stunning series of events between 1989 and 1991 that led to the fall of communist regimes in eastern Europe and the Soviet Union should be a lesson for the Communists in India who have been nearly erased from their once strong-holds, West Bengal and Tripura. Massive popular opposition to the Communist regime is also attributed to its downfall in Russia.

The intention of the atheist rulers here can also suspected to be somewhat similar to that of Russia’s Stalin. May be following his foot prints, the rulers here have embarked upon this project, anticipating that the disunited and disparate Hindus would never come together and hence they can have an easy ride. But, contrary to their expectations the Hindus, the Ayyappa devotees, irrespective caste, creed and religion have realized the impending danger and joined together against the Communists’ (mis)adventure, which to the surprise of all and with the blessings of Lord Ayyappa, is, undoubtedly, going to boomerang.
