Thiruvananthapuram: Union Minister V. Muraleedharan strongly criticized Minister Muhammad Riyas regarding the ongoing ‘monthly payment controversy’. He stated, “The ‘Son-in-law Minister’, is a skillful speaker and speaks on all matters in the world. However, it’s been three days and he still hasn’t clarified why the money received by his own wife were not included in the election affidavit. The Chief Minister has also refrained from providing an explanation on this matter.” He further taunted by questioning whether the same individual hailed as ‘Captain’ and ‘strong-willed’ is now evading the situation like one hiding in a hole.
The BJP State President K. Surendran had said that as per the monthly payment controversy, prominent people including the Chief Minister have received 96 crores, asserted V Muraleedharan.
“Vigilance and Lokayukta are mere spectators and the BJP will hold an agitation demanding a comprehensive investigation.” Muraleedharan urged the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to investigate into the reasons behind the Chief Minister and his daughter accepting the funds and the motives behind providing these funds to opposition leaders.
He went on to mention that many prominent leaders are currently entangled in the ongoing monthly payment controversy. According to the Income Tax Department’s report, the Chief Minister and his daughter have allegedly obtained crores of rupees illicitly from a black sand mining company. “What incentives did the Chief Minister provide to the black sand mining company? Why did this company give funds to leaders like Ramesh Chennithala and PK Kunhalikutty?” inquired V Muraleedharan. He emphasized that a thorough investigation is necessary to address and clarify all these issues.
