Kasaragod: A series of coordinated stone-pelting attacks on three trains across two districts in Kerala has raised alarm, prompting railway officials reveal that the incidents were meticulously planned. Two trains were targeted with stones in Kannur, followed by another attack on a train in Kasaragod. While the stone-pelting caused damage, passengers fortunately remained unharmed.
The unsettling incidents unfolded between 7:11 and 7:16 pm last night when a train in Kannur, identified as the Nethravathi Express, and the Chennai Superfast Express were subjected to stone pelting, leading to the shattering of windows on both trains.
The Okha Express faced the onslaught between Kanhangad and Nileswaram once again around 7:30 p.m. at Kasaragod. Despite the stones penetrating the train, passengers on board remained unharmed, demonstrating the resilience and fortitude of the travellers.
Railway authorities have taken swift action in response to these coordinated attacks, detaining three individuals suspected to be involved. Preliminary reports suggest that the apprehended individuals were under the influence of alcohol during the incidents. The police investigation aims to uncover the motive behind the stone-pelting and ascertain if any ulterior agendas were at play.
