Ganeshotsava celebrations will begin on 16th in the capital; Shashi Tharoor will perform the state-level inauguration; Ganesha idol in 208 centers

Thiruvananthapuram: The Ganeshotsava celebrations under the joint auspices of the Ganeshotsava Trust Committee and the Shiv Sena will begin on Wednesday, August 16. At 10.30 am, Shashi Tharoor MP will inaugurate the state level Ganeshotsava celebrations at Pazhavangadi.

Ganesha idol will be instated at 208 centers in the district. It is believed that the presence of Lord Ganesha on Earth will be more during the Shukla Paksha days (new moon to full moon) of the month of Chingam. It is also believed that those who perform Ganesha Puja during this time will get cleared of their grief and sorrow and their wishes and aspirations will get fulfilled.

Ganesha idols are enshrined in 32 forms such as Trimukha Ganapati, Shakti Ganapati, Taruna Ganapati, Veera Ganapati, Drishti Ganapati, Lakshmi Vinayakan, Bala Ganapati, Heramba Ganapati, Panchamukha Ganapati and eight avatars such as Vakratundan, Gajamukhan, Ekadantan, Vikadan, Mahodaran and Lambodaran. Devotees will receive Ganesha idols to be instated tomorrow. On the 16th, the Ganesha Puja will officially begin with the Ganesha idol being instated near the Pazhavangadi Ganapati Temple.

Shantigiri Ashram General Secretary Swami Gururatnam Gnanathapaswini, film star Dinesh Panicker, BJP District President Adv. VV Rajesh, Councillor Johnson Joseph, Trustees Sivaji Jagannathan, SN Raguchandran Nair, Radhakrishnan Blue Star, Sreekumar Chandra Press, Manakkad Ramachandran, Vattiyoorkavu Madhusudnan Nair, Salim Mattapalli, Kalliyur Shashi and others will attend the function.

The trust committee has also made available small idols for worshiping at homes on the occasion of Ganeshotsavam.
